Operational safety and environmental responsibility is of the utmost importance to PB Towage. We are committed to the safe and environmentally conscious operation of ships and tugs through a proactive management system, ashore, in harbour and at sea. Many of the initiatives that we follow on shore and off shore go beyond what is required by law. We believe that even small group-wide and individual contributions make a difference.

We strive to manage the effects of our operations in a progressive and responsible manner. Objectives are established to reduce identified impacts on people, the atmosphere and marine environment.

In keeping with our high standards PB Towage is currently rolling out ISM and appropriate ISO certification across the entire fleet. Currently, PB Towage Australia is ISM, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, ISO 18001:2007 and PB Sea-Tow is ISM certified.

PB Sea-Tow, PB Towage Australia and PB Towage Middle East have each implemented integrated Quality, Safety and Environmental safety management systems. These systems include procedures for measuring the company’s performance in meeting our QHSE objectives in respect to the wellbeing of our employees, contractors and visitors, the environment and customer satisfaction.

CURRENT PB TOWAGE ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES INCLUDE:

  • New build tugs with high speed engines meeting new IMO NOx emission standards
  • Mandatory utilisation of MGO – a low sulphur fuel
  • Emissions tracking on all harbour tugs
  • Slow steaming where possible to reduce fuel consumption
  • Utilisation of environmentally sensitive lighting systems

PB Towage, at all its tug bases, has implemented security plans in accordance with the ISPS Code, Maritime Transport and Offshore Facility Security Act 2003 and its accompanying regulations. These plans are subject to ongoing internal and external review to minimise security incidents and increase the overall security level for our operations and the security regulated ports in which we operate.
